Changes

Wow, my appologies...

It's been a while since I've posted a a message on my blog about my experience in the UK.
Things have changed, I've managed to find an easier way to get to work.
Finally I have a bank account, so that means I can start receiving my income.
I have been very busy with work around here and I am need even more! =)
REVIT 2012 has arrived so thats an improvement for the company, as we are fully updated and ready to move foward towards the Future, because REVIT is the future. =D

In other aspects, the weather is great (you may be surprised), most of the days are sunny and warm.
And I am going to visit Paris_France in June, so I will post some nice photos of the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower! =)

Cheers CPUT!!!

Variety

I have finished modelling up on Revit the latest project that I was in charge of.
The 1920's Arts and Crafts style Walkhouse.
I have modelled the entire landscape (except the trees because they would hide the design of the building).
Now I have been busy with the elecrical layout of the house, plus some modifications made by my Boss.
We haven't moved into the extentions yet, but soon we will be busy with that.

I am looking foward to carry on with this Company and develop myself.
New projects, new surveys and new views!! =)

Cheers!

Fast Week

I think that this week went really fast! =P No complaints though.

I have t say..I havte been really focused on work, barely have time for myself, and that includes university work, which I know that is not good. In a way, beeing away from the Uni keeps me slightly "of track", but I have to try and stay focused.

I think that my daily journey to work is very exausting, but I really don't mind. Another downside is that I don't have internet at home. That delays me a bit. Also, the fact that I don't have the material/equipment to build models also slows me down, so I have to work with REVIT, which is ok but it takes time.

I want to stay focused on a balanced pace, regarding University work and Work.

Anyway, I'm glad that it's the weekend, because I need some rest from my daily cycling to work plus train.

Have to stay focused!!

Cheers =)

One More Step

Hi CPUT!

This week I have started modeling a new and interesting project on REVIT. Its actually a project that I have done a survey on with my colleagues. I have taken photos and posted them on the Facebook group a few weeks ago.
It´s a house built in the 1920's, 3 storey plus basement and attic. It's a beautiful house with arts and crafts style.
I really like the way that the british architecture is used ''against'' the weather conditions, including carpeted floors and stairs, increased insullation (around 100mm) thick cavity walls (400mm), wooden hardboards and radiators in almost every room, in this case(house) it has fireplaces.
Anyway, I have spent the week working on my previous project and this new one with the modelling of the site plus the house.
I am really learning a great deal up here! And I'm loving how professional people are here, and almost without noticing I am becoming also professional. =)
I have been learning better skills on REVIT, CAD, PHOTOSHOP and researching skills.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, yeah? =)

Regards

This Week

The project that I'm  working on for weeks is really "getting there", in other words, it has been changed so many times, but it is actually starting to look good! =)

It's nice be part of this company, in a very different  world and where everyone makes me feel at home.
My Boss has won an award this week, from a Care Center that he built, and he couldn't stop talking about it. He was very excited with the whole event which took place in London. First thing we all said after that was "straight to the Website". =D

Yesterday (Friday), after a long day of hard work, Joe(a colleague/friend also in University 3rd year) and I had to go with Jules (Julian Boswell_My Boss) to a site to help his carpenter carry wood panels (enormous), but I must say that although it was a bit exhausting, it was very fun.

And this week I have received my first payment!  I'm so not used to this, so I haven't even touched the money, because I think that at this moment I'm not really worried about that, but the experience instead. =)

Glad the week is finished, need some rest from all the cycling and hard work.

Until next time! =)

Differences

This week, starting from Friday I switched from 3Pounds a day in a bus to a free and more sporty way of getting to work. By cycling! =D

I have bought a brand new bike and will start cycling everyday from my house to Southampton train station (+/- 15min ) catch a train to Romsey (15min) and from Romsey station to work(20-25) and then  return.

Overall, I believe that my stay in Europe is helping me become more independent and deal with the tools that are given to me, which is good.

I am not only gaining experience in my course (Architecture), but also gaining experience in the office(which I believe that its what the Uni is aiming at), in other words, I am learning how to deal with my co-workers, how to work in group and learn the most out of each and every element of the company.
I feel that I am part of something progressive and feel needed and useful, cooperating for the growth of part of the country! =)
I am literally  helping to build th UK!

My skills are improving a lot, and I feel more confident  every single day.

I hope to carry this enthusiasm continuously throughout my entire career and make the most out of every single opportunity that is given to me.

Thank you CPUT, until next week.

Part of the Team

This week I went to two more site surveys !! =)
Took lots of photos for the company. One of them is actually a project that I've been working on for weeks on Revit. Through the ideas of Mr. Boswell (My Boss) I am developing a 3D model, plans, site plan, elevations and sections and interior perspectives of 3 to 4(still to be decided) storey care home.
It is a huge building that is being proposed, but has its values and purpose.
Most of the buildings in the UK are built with brickwork as an external finishing material, with some variations in a few cases.
I am still getting used to this HUGE change in my life, so I am still settling down. I am moving to my own apartment on Sunday, and I will start cycling to work daily, starting on Monday! It is cold up here, but we stay warm with good warm clothes and lots of tea and coffe! =D

So hoppefully everything will be alright and I shall do my best to keep up...

Until next week CPUT! =)
